Sherlocks Holmes

A very interesting storyline which follow the book quite closely. It has some moments of laughter and action. People who like detective stories will definitely like this movie.I would say that the actors did a very good jobs in bringing each characters to life.


A recommended movie to watch either at cinema or at home. Though this movie will require you to have a good command of English so that you can understand the various terms that are being use in this movie. This movie would not attract people who like aimless action and violence only. I would suggest people to NOT watch this movie at midnight as you need alert brain to appreciate this movie.

During the 2 hour span of movie, you would rarely feel bored. The truth is, when the movie finish, I feel like the movie ended too fast. Each moment were filled with suspense and curiosity.

First of all, I recommend people to watch this movie in the cinema. It's worth the money. It has a very good special effect especially for the environment and scenery. Besides, it is a James Cameron movie. His movie demand special attention as usual.

Anyway, the storyline and concept were quite predictive and nothing out of the norm. Middle through the movie, I already manage to predict what the hero would do... BUT nevertheless, the story is very good comparative to other movies that has come out recently.

The action scene is very nice. Personally i like the gun fight between the airship and the bird/dinosaur (alien bird la). Though I was hoping to see more of the fighting scene.

I really think the actor who act the bad guy did a very good job. ( I don't remember his name, but he is the general/captain I think). The scar in his head is cool. And he really manage to make audience hate him.

Overall, I would say this is a VERY good movie.. Though with so many movie with special effect nowadays, It's quite of the norm. If only the storyline were not so predictive for me.. I would have say "You MUST watch this movie!"

Bodyguard and Assassins

This movie is more to drama that as an action movie. Hence if you go to watch it with an expectation of lots of action, you will be gravely disappointed. But this movie concentrate on building the character. A lot of superstars act in this movie, so you will get to see actors like Nicholas Tse, Donnie Yen, Leon Lai and etc. This movie have some element of truth and fiction. I am not very sure which part and which character is fake, but i do know that the visit of Dr Sun Yat Sen to Hong Kong is true.

You will only get to see most of the action in the third part of the movie. Even this scene is quite short. But beside the action scene, you will enjoy the environment on which they act this movie. You will get to see quite a few sad scene, though at the end you wont feel so much of the sadness as we know in history that Dr Sun effort was not in vain.

I would recommend this movie to those who like stories with deep meaning. By the way, this movie can be enjoyed in DVD also, not necessarily in cinema.

Ninja Assassin

Ninja Assassin is a movie where you will see lots of blood and gore. You will like this movie if you like action movie. I would say that this movie is the best ninja movie I have seen so far. There is a lot of fighting scene where you get to see stunning move. Besides that, this movie will appeal to those who like Rain, a Korea artist. Rain acts as Raizo, the main character in this movie.

The story itself does not make much sense in a way that the plot got a few loopholes. It does not have a good character building beside the main character. You will enjoy this movie but it wont be memorable enough to watch for a second time.

It is worth to comment that you should enjoy this movie in cinema as some action scene is very dark and too fast. You will get to enjoy all the scene in the cinema. And you would love it. :) Overall I will say that this is a nice movie, but lack of my recommendation because of the poor plot. It’s not suitable for those that doesn’t like violent movie.

SUPERAntiSpyware

I got myself a copy of SUPERAntiSpyware professional edition free of charge last week through a giveaways in ghacks(http://www.ghacks.net/). Furthermore, I found out that once u get a license for this software, it is a LIFETIME license.

I have long heard that this software is very good.
After installing it, I ran a full scan of my computer.
I am glad that it did not found any malware in my computer, not because it is not a good software, but because i am a very cautious person and I installs lot's of security software.

I have been much of a computer geek since my laptop get infected for the first time last 4 year with virus.
Personal things aside, below is the interface of SUPERAntiSpyware.
It is very simple and there's nothing grand about it.




When I ran a full scan, it took quite some time. I have tested many security software and a lot of them have a faster scanning time.

But it is light in resources. I do not notice any drop in my computer performances.
Even with the real-time protection enabled, I don't notice any differences in performance.




The free edition is very suitable to be used as a secondary malware scanner for every user.
So far I have been very impressed with it. :)

Simple yet powerful....

A missionary share his testimony in my church not long ago. His testimony really touch my heart. He is a simple and a very humble man. He does not possess a very charismatic character, but he can touch the lives of many.
I can't share much of his testimony because it will endanger his life as he is sharing his faith in a nation where persecution is very real.
One thing that's very consistent in his life and his testimony is the importance of reading God's word and praying in a daily basis.
With this 2 basis, he can endure the hardship and show the love of Christ to multitudes.
It's just so simple.
His sharing was very simple yet it's so powerful. It involved lots of sacrifice, yet through his life testimony, it's very possible.
He is such a simple man that God use him to prove that doing God's will doesn't require great skills, great revival, even great vision. Yes, all these are important, but God can use us regardless of our ability and circumstances.
It's just about a willing heart and obedience.
God prefer obedience more that sacrifice.

Symbaloo

Symbaloo is a web page that helps to coordinate bookmarks of mix interests... Actually, I don't know how to describe it. Anyway, I start to use it lately because I can access all my bookmarks from any computer as long as i can log in to my account in Symbaloo.
Since i read through a lot of blogs everyday, I can't keep track of all the bookmarks in the various PC that I used.
With Symbaloo, my problem is solved. :)
The learning curve for Symbaloo is a bit high though. You will need some time to learn how to use it. It took me around 45 mins to fully utilizes all of it's functions. If you only use the basic functions, I guess 15 min is enough. it's worthwhile though.

Backup Mysql Databases

To backup the Mysql database, we use mysqldump command.
Below are some of the basic commands for mysqldump.

Backup the table structure without the data.
mysqldump database --no-data >db-dump-file.sql

Backup specific databases.
mysqldump --opt database > db-dump-file.sql

Dump everything.
mysqldump --opt --all-databases > total-db-dump-file.sql
mysqldump -u user-id -h host-name --opt --all-databases > total-db-dump-file.sql

Another cute mouse from the Facebook application.

Forget scamming humans into giving up the cheese this Christmas. . . everybody knows that it's Santa who's really got the goods. Santa's a generous guy. He won't care if he has to fill a few extra stockings while he's on his rounds. Unfortunately for the Stocking Mice, they've also forgotten that Santa keeps tabs on everyone, and they've been very naughty this year. Oh well, maybe they can swap their coal to the Scrooge Mouse for a few crumbs of stale cheddar.

Mousehunt

Facebook is famous because of the extensive application that can be played in it. My favorite application is Mousehunt. :) I like the graphics so much. It's cute and unique. Currently there is the Great Winter Hunt.

Hawthorn Berries

Recently I try to look for herbs or supplements that will help to improve my blood circulation. I have poor blood circulation, even the doctor found it difficult to draw blood from me! They need to inject the syringe 2 time just to get sufficient blood for testing.
Along the way, I found out a new herb that I never heard of, Hawthorn Berries. It is widely used in the western countries to promote the health of the circulatory system, treat angina, high blood pressure, congestive heart failure and cardiac arrhythmia. This indirectly leads to the strengthening of the heart.
I receive this information online and from a GNC store, so I am not responsible for the accurateness of this article. According to medical expert, this herb is one of the safest herb to take. Meaning that the side effects were not common or dangerous.
A lot (and i mean a lot!) of other herbs that we commonly heard have more side effect that this herb. For example, Ginkgo Biloba which is also another herbs that people normally used to increase the blood circulation and improve memory have more side effects compared to this herb. This does not mean Ginkgo is dangerous, it is also safe to consume, it is just in comparison to Hawthorn. :)
Do take note to consult the doctor if you have heart condition before taking this herbs. Besides that, avoid it if colitis or ulcers are present and if you are using Digoxin or Phenylephrine. it is not recommended for children, pregnant lady or those breastfeeding.

The Twilight Saga: New Moon

This movie is a must for those that like the first Twilight movie. It is a romance and drama genre of movie so it will appeal most to the ladies.
The plot is quite decent so it will be worth watching even though there is not much action scene. The visual is nicely done, though nothing is exceptionally as most movie nowadays got better visual effects.
Though not an action movie, watching this movie in cinema is more enjoyable that watching in DVD because it bring up the atmosphere of curiosity and romance. >,< (Not quite sure what I am talking about also, haha)
The third movie in this series is scheduled to be screened on June 2010. I never read the book version so I cant judge whether the movie is true to the original storyline. But after watching this movie, I am very curios of the third and fourth book in this saga.
The director made a good job of arousing the suspense and anticipation of the audience to see the third movie that is upcoming. After watching it, I cant wait to see what happen in the third movie. Good strategy director!
This movie will not appeal top those who like action movie and comedy. I will say that this movie is very boring and dragging if you cant appreciate romance and the storyline. For me, this movie is nice because I like the plot, not the romance. (I am a guy afterall, :) )
